The latest video from the Sinderblock EP. Flimed at the Marketplace Gallery and other spots in Albany. This is a simple but effective video that I felt embraced the song and it's meaning after I saw it. Sev gets all the credit for this video though, he has a great way of visualizing what he wants and making it happen. Shouts out to Flux and his bro Zach for the dopeness. Check them out at Appiovisual for rates and releases. I'm not really the guy that likes to be in videos, but there are a few cameos for some of upstate's finest emcees. Go ahead and download Sinderblock album here, if you don't already have it.
Here's an ill release that just came through VIA D.I.T.C. This video is just a bunch of older visuals from the camp and is set to an instrumental off the new Showbiz Instrumental project that carries the same name. The Diggin crew has consistently dropped hot music over the years even after taking the blow of the death of Big L. The new Showbiz and AG album, Mugshot Music Reloaded it set to drop May 8th on Itunes
I met Fokis back when he came to do a show at Oneonta in '02. I did a radio interview with him and got to kick it for a bit which was chill. Ever since then I have followed him as closely as I could over the years. I was extremely pleased to see this pop up.
The band is Mirk, The style is Hip Hop Funk Soul Jazz Prog, and they have the talent and are making the right moves to get somewhere good in this business. Led by producer, vocalist, and lyricist Mirk, This collective of artists blend together smoother than peanut butter and fluff on white. They host a weekly open mic and are constantly 'grindin' out the scene. Last week's 420 show with Mr. Cheeks was supercrisp to the ear to say the least, and last night's performance opening up for Rakim had heads all singing along to their catchy hooks and riffs. If you don't fall in love with the sound of these guys you are either a dummy, or an envious prick that has an ego the size of The Egg. Since I know Mirk personally I asked him if I could post the album to help promote it for him and he gave me the OK to "spread the love" even though it is for sale everywhere else. If you would like to buy a hard copy of the album and limited edition Tree Shurt click here. I've also enclosed a ton of exclusive pictures of the group so are rare and some were taken last night on my phone. They will be opening for a number of upcoming shows in the Capital Region as more hip hop parties arise. So if you are in the area and feel the need to dance off the shit week you had, take a look in the Metroland for their shows, or stop by Justin's on Lark on Thursday night and you may just run into them.

Jack Splash is one half of the duo Chain Swangaz along with fellow whiteboy Dirt Nasty. They just snail mailed this disc to me a few weeks ago right after my last post. This is the next in the series after Heir to the Throne, which dropped back in '09. If you've been feeling some of this west coast gwop rap like I have be on the look for the new album from 3 LOKO which is Andy Milonokis, Riff Raff, and Dirt Nasty. There is sure to be a beat from Sid Roams, Jack Splash, and possibly Alchemist.
New Billy Woods album feat. Masai Bay, Roc Marciano, Elucid, Lwren, and Vordul Mega. This is the first solo album in 8 years since The Chalice in '04 and Camoflauge in '02.
Physical album is a limited quantity collectors item, featuring the Director's Cut with a full 20-page lyric book and two bonus tracks available for download with purchase. billy woods is one half of the critically acclaimed group, Super Chron Flight Brothers, and member of the Reavers.
Tracks 9 and 20 are CD only bonus tracks. You know we never fuck around up in here.
The Artifacts dropped this on Easter after linking up with Khrysis. It's till available only as stream due to a limited number of downloads. I talked with Tame One and El back at Brooklyn Bowl during BK hip Hop fest and they assured me they were holding down the studio and had a new album on the way. We can all sit and hope that they bring it back to the tracks and shock us like the third rail.

Physical copies of the official CD with artwork will be available soon with the tracks split up and maybe a few adjustments. There was just too much going on in the past few weeks with them dropping of new Treeshurts, planning the 4th 420 show, and me doing mixes for various other websites I also work with. I wanted to give it to people anyway to chill and vibe out to today even if the actual copies weren't pressed. The physicals will be linked to a package deal that will only be found at www.treeshurts.com when they are released. These DJ oriented packages will be limited to 100 and will not be re-released once they are cashed. This is a timeless mix of great smoking songs that includes everything from rare gems to well known anthems. Enjoy all and follow us on twitter @unitedcrates and @treeshurts Peace and Trees. Tell them Vinyl sent ya.

Today is an important day in Hip Hop music. One of the all time great albums that seems to be included in everyone's top ten list dropped 20 years ago today. Nas' Illmatic took the world by storm as he teamed with the hottest underground producers an released a masterpiece. He unleashed a new style of emceeing that still to this day can not be duplicated. If I could choose one classic hip hop icon to get on one of my tracks, this would be my answer. With the release of "The Elmatic Instrumentals," DJ Premier took some time to check out the new interpretations of some of his classic productions, as covered by Detroit band Will Sessions. After explaining the background behind the beat for "Memory Lane," he's predictably impressed with the new instrumental versions for "Represent" and "Detroit State of Mind." Maybe if we are all lucky Nas will record a mixtape version of Illmatic over these. Nahyo, we aren't getting that lucky. Buy this on vinyl and step you DJ game up dun.
I've been waiting to hear some new Ras Kass and now the wait is finally over. Ras links up with Louie Rubio and Doc Hollywood for this 14 track disc. The production is a serious threat to some of these new jack producers. They also bring in Dirt Nasty and Kat Graham for a crazy track as well as a new take on ATCQ's Electric Relaxation. You can always expect a few things with Ras Kassalino... dope verses, great delivery, and blunt content. He always has a clever way to make a joke out of something so serious. I've been a fan of his since jumpstreet and he has yet to disappoint me.
Mick Boogie flips up some dope Slum Vill joints on this latest release. This dropped a few weeks ago, I just haven't posted anything in a bit and just wanted you to have it if you didn't. It's a great mixtape for any Slum Village fan or collector of Mick Boogie's timelessness. I will have the new Mick Boog Beastie Boys flip on here the day it drops. Heck, it may even be before some of those other sites we won't name right now.
This is the most recent joint from Prince Ali reppin Toronto, entirely produced on the SP1200. There is a track where he shouts out Pete Rock and I'm not sure if he produced a track on here, or if Ali was just shouting him out. It doesn't really matter, because either way the song is dope. The great thing about this little project is that all of the features have similar styles. So you kinda know what you are going to get, but there is still a surprise element to it. Oddisee, Kev Brown, and Emilio Rojas are linked into a few songs and help the album ride. Listen to me, now I'm sounding like a wack Anthony Bourdain rap album review guy. Only I'm not eating Bison Tit Bruschetta and drinking Emu Flavored Flemonade.

NORE mixtape that just dropped this morn. Grab it if you want. I find that Noreaga always has funny lines and picks great tracks to rock over. Teaming up with Green can't hurt either. I'm excited to hear the NORE x Alchemist joints coming soon, but this will have to hold us all till the album. Like said, these are requests and I haven't even listened to them. If they end up sucking, then you can see what happens without me filtering through the releases.
This was the apparent diss to L.L. Cool J for the way he handeled Canibus's verse in the song 4,3,2,1. and what eventually led to the feud.

Total Eclipse of the legendary X-ecutioners drop this J Dilla mashup mix. Mostly Dilla beats with other acapellas, breaks and some straight Jay Dee tracks. You could call it a blend CD I guess. I was chatting back and forth on Twitter for hours with him about BMX bikes and it had me laughing thinking how even back then status was based on what kind of bike you were rocking. Fun times, but even better times when I listened to this CD. Straight murdered it as usual. Not too sure what the prognosis is on the rest of The X-ecutioners, but Rob Swift has stayed steady releasing mixtapes and hopping on peoples projects from time to time. Some of the best DJ's to ever own a set of decks.

Here's a fire ass Apathy mixtape I found. I know most of you checking this blog, love you some hard cracker rap, so i figured I'd share it. There are a ton of classic Ap freestyles on here as well as a few new joints. Honestly, I think this it's just a comp someone threw together, but it's cool enough to be called a mixtape. Apathy is one of the best white rappers on the planet. Yes, I said it.

The re-release of French Montana's French Revolution with updated tracklisting. Posting it, not so much a fan of French, but a fan of Harry Fraud who is Montana's go to producer when he needs that headbanger. It's been exactly one month from the time we dropped the Sinderblock EP. Sev and myself can't thank everyone enough for showing support and the great feedback on the record. Now I don't usually do remixes unless it is industry stuff or immediate fam, but you know how the saying goes... "I does ish right the first time, no need for a remix..." thx to Smog for that wonderful concept. In true fun I thought it would be good to do a remix and include the instrumental since you all have been so great to us. I always used to get amped when people gave out the instrumental to a remix. This has been done a while ago and has been sitting since the album was finished. I didn't want to overwhelm people with too much at once and it would also give heads a great reason to revisit the song even though I know you all have the album on repeat.
*winks to everyone who's in on it
Keep spreading the good word and post it on any site or anywhere you want.
Sev will be opening up for Rakim at Northern Lights along with Mirk and a few others. I will be in the house as well chillin so say what up if you recognize me.
In the meantime enjoy this.

One week ago to the day we dropped another chapter in the UNT Tens series. #17 (Honey Dips) features 10 songs about fly persuasive females. I'm posting it here in case you don't already have it and soon it will be added to the discog. I'd like to personally thank Ego Trip Mag for giving UNT a platform to invite new people into our love for hip hop. Shout out to my fam that hold it down with me as well... Ev and Stan.

The website Refined Hype brings you this dope 10 track album. Great production on here and yes, someone else used the "I need the dollar" sample and just shortened it...as if we wouldn't notice. My favorite track on here is "her bourne identity".. it pretty much sold me on checking the whole record.

The video dropped a few days ago, but is too blogworthy not to post it. The first single off Roc Marci's Marcberg (Reloaded) that came out about 5 months ago. The album is set to be released on Decon this month and will feature production from Alchemist and Roc Marc. Another new project that focuses on Marci's production; Marci Beacoup will feature Evidence, Action Bronson, and Guilty Simpson and is set for release later in the year. There is speculation that Marci is part of a new group called M.A.R.S. based on the video and song produced by Large Pro feat. Action, Cormega, and Saigon. Who knows what the real deal with that is, but when I find out I'll keep you in the loop.
