I normally wouldn't post Wale, but I have to say that I am impressed by the beat selection on this album. It could be that all of the sudden he knows what he is doing, or that his uncle, DJ Clark Kent is helping along the way. Not a big MMG fan, but some of Wale's stuff is aight. Download it, give it a run, and let me know what ya think.

On Christmas Eve, Freeway dropped off a holiday season-inspired project, entitled the Black Santa EP. It features records such as the recently released "Roc Reloaded", the Statik Selektah-produced title track, and the bass trunk heavy "With or Without" featuring State Property brethren, Neef Buck. Additionally, it features guest appearances from Philadelphia veteran Gillie Da Kid, Tek (one half of Smif-N-Wessun), Grammy nominated songwriter Saint Sann, undefeated boxer Adrien Bronner, and New York Knicks' Iman Shumpert and Rasheed Wallace. On the beats, Freeway enlisted Jake One, Dilemma, Most Famous, DJ SNS, FX, and Statik Selektah.

Torae dropped this recently and I think it's pretty dope. A definite must have for any Torae fan or underground music collector. He dabbles and toys with what the holidays were like for him growing up all wrapped up in tissue paper and for free. It becomes a funny parallel as you being to remember things that everyone had goin on years back.

I can't front, I'm still coming around to this dude. Some of his stuff is hot and some of it is just hit or miss for me. Either way, another free stocking stuffa. He seems to be doing all the right things... working with the right people, hopping on the right beats, and even putting dollar $igns in his name. Smart to do a cover that is a .gif as well. Whatever the reason enjoy bumping his newest of Joey this season. On a sad note... Capital Steez, Joey's friend and rhyme partner took his own life today at 19. I wish it was a joke. The annual mixtape, which usually features a nice mix of my favorite tracks of the year and some unheard exclusives. This isn't one of those mixtapes that you find on Datpiff, or DJBooth amongst the flood of wackness and watered down junk. This is a REAL mixtape, you know, like the ones no one makes anymore. Yeah, well I still do what I've been doing for years. I make these not only for myself and my fans and true followers, but also to pay homage to the great music that has or hasn't dropped. The delay on this was inevitable due to edits and things that were beyond my control. If you have been following the series, you know ATF usually drops on Thanksgiving. Special thanks to De La Soul for comin thru and hooking it up for me. Much more to come in 2013. Stay tuned and don't get caught slippin.

Here is a hilarious video that surfaced of BIG tossing a bottle at Big Kap for fuckin up his set more than a few times. Lil Cease catches a case of the giggles n shit too. I'd have to do the same thing if that shit was me.

While we are looking at rare videos... this video was just released and was recorded hours before Biggie's death. A ton of cameos and shout outs in this video. It seemed like everyone was in Vegas that weekend.

Yet another rare video I came across in my recent travels. Stillwell Q kills this shit, shouts to the whole ASF crew. Talks of a reunion album in the works are fluttering. I also know for a fact that there is a slew of unreleased OG Arsonist's tracks from when the recorded "As The World Burns". This was one of the the things we spoke about when I kicked it with Q a few months back. Props to RSC as well.

Till the next time. Merry Chrismahanaqwaznika.

The classic VHS mixtape released by Zoo York skateboard company back in '97. This has recently been brought up to today's standards. Obviously that does not mean BlueRay, but the video definitely is clearer and looks much better than the OG copy. This was the first time many of us true hip hop fans got to see any footage of those great freestyles from the Stretch and Bob show at KCR. If you were lucky enough to have been a skateboarder, or happen to know one back then, you probably watched this video. If not, then sit back and enjoy some tricks and verses that Lil' Wayne still can't fuck with. This set the precedent for some of the newer styles of recording skateboarding videos, and was followed by everyone from Lance Mountain (411VM) to Tony Hawk (Birdhouse's - The End).

This underground documentary features rare footage of the mostly African-American and Puerto Rican South Bronx gangs from the 1970's, and updates the footage by visiting the gang members in early 1990's New York. FLYIN' CUT SLEEVES, completed in 1993, portrays street gang presidents in the Bronx. The project grew out of the experiences of Rita Fecher, the film's co-producer, who taught in a South Bronx school in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Co directed by Henry Chalfant (Style Wars), this is a look behind the colors and names into a world that most of us wouldn't understand. There is nothing predictable about the documentary, and it gives real names and life-stories of the actual gang leaders. It is essential viewing for those interested in the early years of Hip Hop, and complements and enhances the film "80 Blocks from Tiffany's" and the books "Yes Yes Y'All" and "Can't Stop Won't Stop".

Note from creator of  DUSTY BUT DIGITAL:
Due to the increased amount of work with music and other sites you've probably noticed that I haven't been updating this as frequent as I used to. I will post exclusive findings and music still from time to time and continue to maintain it to the best of my ability. I know a lot of you count on me to filter out the weak music and give you DBD approved material for your radio shows etc. You are the reason I still do it. Some weeks will be better than others. I hope ya'll understand. If you don't, fuck you.

Why the tape was purple:

"Only because that we be from the block, we was finagling in certain situations where the things that you was dealing with had to be separated from what everyone else was dealing with. I always ran with that as one of my traits in anything I do to separate myself from others. Back when we used to sling and do what we do, you would have different color caps (to viles). Certain color caps resembled certain people that were doing shit different than everyone else. It's like Yo, This is our color, anyone step on this color, you got an issue at that time. So I decided with my music, This is my world, my thing and I want to put a color on it just so everybody will know. That's how "The Purple Tape" came in existence. I think I had wanted a red one at first, then thought how somebody else had did it already. I made it like that specifically..."

Good Luck.

Here's a sneak peek at the new film sent to me by Dstroy of RSC/Arsonists fam. It is being produced by Mr. Complex

DAVID is the last romantic guy in New York who collects 90's memorabilia. He is devastated when his fiancĂ© who is sleeping with every guy in the city dumps him to pursue a career as a TV dance show contestant. Fed up he starts "phone fishing"; leaving cell phones in bars near hot women and then calling the phone pretending it is lost and sets off dating adventures. David’s looking for love but finds ladies with vicious pit bulls, a dominatrix into aerial acrobatics, a sexy drug dealing gangster, cross dressing thugs and a woman in a Catwoman suit. He is infatuated with his gorgeous coworker and barely avoids getting shot by her jealous fiancĂ©.

When his ex returns to him, David must decide if he wants to continue the ladies man act or accept that she may be the only person who has the love he’s been longing for.

I've never been a huge fan of Kool Keith and all his pseudonyms after the Ultramag years, but I had to post this video because anything that focuses on graffiti is cool with me. This is actually one of the better songs that I've heard as of recent from Dr. Doom.

Even though 2Pac‘s former original running mates Digital Underground disbanded back in 2008, that hasn’t stopped former member Money B from actively making music. Recently, Money hooked up with Milwaukee native Scott Knoxx to form the group M*A*S*K, and having spent most of the year locked in the lab, the duo came out for some air back in July to release their first single, “Living In The Sky.”

Now, just over a month later, Money and Knoxx return to the surface to liberate a brand new recording entitled “Make The Sound,” which is produced by legendary beatsmith DJ Premier, and features Chi-Town emcee/activist Rhymefest. Listen to M*A*S*K as they continue to “restore Hip Hop since 1989″ down below, and stay tuned for their upcoming album, Stuntin’ In A Recession.

More dumb shit from the overly drugged up DN. I love that these guys really don't give a fuck and just do dumb shit, they were the first. Sometimes it does get annoying and old though. We even got a few wannabe copycats in the area. I'd much rather see a video with just Dirt... These other two goofs do absolutely nothing for me.

The Good Life, DJ Smoke LES, and R. Powell drop their third installment, shitting on heads like pigeons in the parks of NYC. This is the real cover BTW. Y@k Ballz finally releases the album that has been in the works for 2 1/2 years +. This dropped almost a week ago today to the date. Y@k has been my peoples since college and I had to show him some love. This album is Y@k similar from what we heard on the Scifentology releases. He is experimenting with new directions in sound due to his recent influences such as: Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, and we can't forget his close friend El-P. All of the production is done by Y@k and Chapter 7, this album was well worth the wait. After slowly leaking out track after track for over a year, he decided to let loose the rest to the project for free. The latest flick from Meyhem. During SXSW, the hulking Queens rapper assembled a big pile of friends and recorded the bulk of his excellent Respect The Fly Shit mixtape. The hazy-but-intense “Fingerless Driving Gloves” is one of that tape’s few songs that doesn’t feature a small battalion of guest-rappers. And in its brand-new video, Lauren spends time glowering on New York restaurants and eating expensive-looking lunches alone at sidewalk cafes, which seem to connotate a lonely existence. Steven “Scarboro” Velasque directs.

Fraud gives us all some more insight into how he makes his beats, who he likes to work with, and how it all started for him. After recreating the classic Vast Aire sound, and dabbling with other projects, he caught a big break when Flex asked French for an anthem for Summer Jam. As they say, the rest is history. I sure hope that is just a wig he wears for interviews.

This is a real tight mix of all the newer El-P productions flipped by Trakstar. If you haven't caught this yet, toss it in the Ipod and vibe out. It reminds me of the early Jux days when they were pushing Lif's I Phantom heavy to college airwaves. If you are a good hunter you should go grab the mix I did for Def Jux back in 2002 called "Definitive Sampler Platter". Good luck with that tho.

Hailed as “the best new voice in Canadian rap” (Exclaim Magazine), Evil Ebenezeer has become the voice of a generation that doesn’t want to grow up, get a job and give up their childhood dreams. With a mastery of cadence, he captures the neurotic soul of our times with eccentric dysfunction, humour and epic darkness all told with his trademark butter smooth delivery. This West Coast legend, has shared stages with the likes of the mighty Souls of Mischief, RA the Rugged Man, Planet Asia, Devin the Dude, Tech Nine and the Beatnuts. Spending his time touring North America he met up with a couple deviants from Vancouver and created something truly hideous. Along with cult sensation Snak the Ripper and Young Sin he formed the super group Brass Tackz. The group joined the Warped Tour 2010 to play for crowds of 20,000 screaming fans. In the interim, our twisted hero has created his solo masterpiece, Evil Eye, and is once more taking to the road to “shatter the expectations of hip hop fans” (Spin) with his, “Pulp Fiction like adrenaline shot to the heart performances” (Urb) converting strangers to obsessed fans. This is the Evil your parents warned you about.
