Skillz is here with his annual year end (w)rap up. I fuckin' can't stand this beat, as a matter of fact, I'm guessing this is the worst wrap up of all time......of all time. He has officially bowed out and states that this will be the last one. Listen Here. Skillz new album "Thoughts Become Things', ironically dropped one week ago. Grab it here if you like.

As promised the semi untagged version. My snips are still in, but the Knicks tags are not. This is also track by track, not one single track. My bad about not getting it up yesterday, I honestly forgot it was Sunday. That's what happens sometimes when you stay buzy.

Chambers_X_FWord_Records-We're_Coming-CDS-2012-UC

Here's a new joint from my fam, the FWord Records camp over production by Chambers. There are too many emcees to list on this posse cut but I will hook it up. It does have some of Fword's best emcees along with my brother flexin' their skills.

this track features the following emcees:
Mic Lanny, IB, Dead Wrong, June, Animal Cracker, Ed Powers & Icabod Chang

Paper_Diamond-Wavesight-EP-2012-UC

I try to give you all a nice mix of music on this site and I myself sometimes like to listen to stuff that I normally wouldn't. I suggest you do that from time to time, you'd be surprised at how much it makes you think. This cover was dope too, that was what got me to actually listen. It's like prog dubstep with rnb vocals. If you don't like it, at least you know not to grab another one of their records based on the cover alone.

Wick-It_The_Instigator-The_Weathermaker-EP-2012-UC

Continuing with the somewhat dubstep theme is Wick-It The Instigator's newest release. You can't really call this straight dubstep tho. It's more expermiental electronic beats with similar breakdowns and drops to dubstep. A while ago I hit you with Grindhouse Bastards, and this CD trump's that by a mile.... and if you were thinking about it don't bother, I already sampled Grey Sky.

Mos_Def_aka_Yasiin_Bey-Sunshine_Screwface_Live-CDS-2012-UC

I just came across this and never saw it. This is Mos at his finest flippin rastafari over Dilla live on radio. How much better could it get honestly? This could've actually been the single. He also did that with the Beef freestyle, then actually dropped it over the real beat Minnesota produced.
The tool on the couch is totally oblivious to the history happening in front of him.

BIG LACES WITH THE MOSAICS

The_Beatdown_Collective-Live_on_WRPI_91.5FM_(11-10-10)-2011-UC

One year ago today The BDC unleashed a ton of unreleased heat over the airwaves of WRPI fm. A jazz side project that merges old school drums, loops and samples with live instrumentation. Totally meant to be on the spot and a one take thing. This project reminds me of when jazz was back at the clubs in NYC, based on spontaneity and style, but only times have changed. We are executing other ways of getting out there to the public. It's only right to show and prove in every genre you capable of creating. That's why I thought that everyone should own this. It's a great listen and a nice blend Funk, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Electronic. Kid friendly. Big Ghostfase would give this like a 5 out of 5 Zeus Slaps b.

Anything But Orderly

After just coming off working on the UNT Beatbox Tens I remembered how much I loved the Fat Boys when I was young. Their music was fun, non violent, and was unlike anything I had ever heard at the age of 7. I then had my mother take me out to Strawberries to buy the record.
Big shouts to MA Dukes for having a nice record player... and for showing me how to use it.

After some months passed "rap" began to gain popularity among kids at the B-ball courts. Boomboxes and high tops. Pins and hats were also a necessity. These were some of the old hard to find relics.

Cazal Glasses became popular with the B-Boy movement and Skateboarding was being introduced on TV. They made plenty of money off merchandising and licensing too. Check the OG Bones stickers on the bottom of the board. To me these things I can remember them like they were yesterday, but time really takes off after your out of school. I guess that's why you see so many old people at community colleges. hard to believe over 25 years ago.
Back then people were saying it was going to be a trend.

They even starred in a movie. Straight classic... pure stupidness.

These guys even used to chill with Freddy.

..and The Fridge

They were a huge influence when I created The E. P. The samples they used for their song were well known radio songs and helped bridge the gap between young and old listeners. My parents never minded me playing this loud. It was the N.W.A. I had to buy 4 copies of because my mother would break them and throw them out.

Fat Boys - Wipeout

Fat Boys - Louie Louie

Fat Boys - Coming Back Hard Again

Fat Boys - Falling In Love

Fat Boys - Sex Machine

RIP Buffy 'Human Beat Box' Doctor Nice and Heavy D.

Up_North_Trips-The_10's_Collection-2011-UNT

Recently I worked on a collaboration with my good friend Ev from college and his boy Stan from downstate. The idea was to make a series of mixes specific to one idea and include tracks based on that. We dropped one every day for about 15 days starting last month on the 10th. It is called The 10's. It was so popular it received a ton of reblogs via Tumblr and various other websites. We even received a picture of the man himself, Prodigy checkin' up on our progress and making sure his infamous lyric, being used as a handle was justified. After talks a few days back via email with the UNT fam, we've decided to continue The 10's and keep more of those lunch break mixes filling up you Ipods. We haven't worked out exactly when we will be dropping them, but I will keep you filled in. A ton of copycats are doing lists that are similar...10 this 10 that, best this, best that, etc., but remember where it all started... Your Memory's Museum, Up North Trips.

STAYED THIRSTY

The_Vinylcologist-O.T.B.-CDS-2011-UC

The first thing your saying is ...damn, I thought this guy burned all his notebooks. Guess what, you can work on songs for the next 2 years and still not have as many unreleased tracks as I am sitting on. This is just one that I thought would be good to drop considering today was Travers day. RIP Yusef Afloat.
Download "O.T.B."

The Travers 2011 poster.

These get better every year. If you want yours head over to Greg Montgomery's website and purchase a singed or unsigned version. From what I am told is that Greg lives/or lived in a brownstone somewhere down by Madison Ave. Who knows if that is true. What i do know is that he is a Capital Region native and a great artist.

Skillz.

Dirt Nasty Hey ladies... Fuck him... he still isn't famous.

Some Random Clown This better be a Halloween costume. I'm guessing that his chain is spray-painted and that's the hubcap my pops lost off his Buick back in '89. He loved that car.

This shit is sick. The Joker

This shit is classic. "He OG'd"

I've been in this game for a minute, a long minute and had to put everyone up on what exactly has happened to hip hop. It's isn't about skill anymore, it's about how much of a clown you can be and how much attention you can get by being that way. I'm not saying that I wouldn't jump at the opportunity to own any one of these chains. What I am saying is if I did get the opportunity, I'd hit up Chumlee in Vegas and get my pawn on. Have some fun and take a trip back in time when hip hop was hip hop and wasn't watered down with all this melting ice. "Fake emcees, they always act hard, but won't walk the streets without their bodyguards." -Guru of Gang Starr

Pay Homage RIP.
#NowPlaying Big_L-Furious_Anger

It's hard to say what they game would be like if Big L was still alive today to rip up mics. 12 Years ago today we lost the best musical mind to ever put a pen to a pad. I have to honestly say that this is, and always will be my favorite emcee ever....of all time. I would've love to hear his take on the idiots in the industry today. I'm sure that there would be a song out called H.O.M.O.s that stood for Horrible Overconfident Mediocre Others. Produced by Buckwild or Diamond D, getting spins on radio stations across the country. This day every year I play a string of my favorite Big L joints... I've included a link to a great CD that is a must have for any Big L fan or collector. It has a number of rare joints and some that I'm sure you've heard, but they are cleaned up better than expected.
